I haven’t talked about this before on here, but I’m pretty passionate about healthy eating. While I may stray and have the occasional donut (or two), I eat pretty well and give my body a lot of the nutrients it needs to thrive!
What I lack, however, is time. I spend a few hours in the kitchen on Sunday afternoons prepping veggies and chicken for the week, but it’s SO hard to find a good, on-the-go snack that I can take with me while exploring Chicago! Luckily, I’ve found a few. Here’s a list of what I’ve been buying lately. All of these are non-GMO, too!
Two Moms In The Raw
TMITR was born from Shari, an amazing woman who was diagnosed with MS in 2004. She found that a raw food diet basically cured her, and she committed herself to raw living. Since then, her company have been thriving, and she even released a new cookbook! Pictured above is my favorite from their lineup: Green Tea Vanilla Truffles. Mmmmmm. All of her products are raw, vegan, gluten-free, kosher, aaaaaaaaand handmade in colorful Colorado.
Harvest Snaps have long been a favorite of mine, especially their Tomato Basil Lentil Snaps. They’re crunchy and delicious and I don’t know how I lived so long without them! Harvest Snaps are baked, filled with protein and fiber, and are freaking delicious.
Way Better Snacks
I tried these bad boys at a food festival last summer and never turned back. I think I buy at least 2 bags of the Sweet Potato every week! I also recently tried the Smoked Havarti Pita-ahh chips, and fell in love. I probably should buy some stock in this company.
Hi I’m Skinny
So I tried these just a few weeks ago, and am HOOKED. If you couldn’t tell, I have a thing with things created from sweet potato, and these skinny sticks are no different. They are DELICIOUS, crunchy, and are suuuuper low in calories. Yay!
I love juice. Juicy juice juice. Especially cold-pressed juice, which luckily is all the rage right now! My personal favorite is Suja. I tend to sip on these in between brunch and dinner on the weekends, when I’m not quite hungry enough for a whole meal, but need something to tide me over. My favorites: 24 Karat, Carrot Crush, and Fuel. Although a bit on the expensive side, I think they’re worth it if you’re replacing a meal (or a bit of a meal) with one.
Justin’s Peanut Butter Cups
It’s not like I could do a whole food blog post without talking about something sweet! I am infatuated with Justin’s Peanut Butter Cups – especially the dark chocolate! You can find these at Whole Foods and Starbucks (and I’m sure a myriad of other places, but that’s where I buy them). They’re organic, and wayyyy better than Reese’s (in my opinion). I’m also a huge fan of their Almond Butter!
